Associate Professor Mathis Grossmann, MD, PhD, FRACP, is a NHMRC Career Development Principal Research Fellow at the University of Melbourne, Austin Health. He is Consultant Endocrinologist at Austin Health, where he runs the Men’s Health Clinic. His research group focuses on the roles of androgens in the regulation of body composition, glucose metabolism and musculoskeletal function in men. Following graduation with an MD (honours) from Heidelberg University Medical School and residency in Munich, Germany, he spent 4 years in basic thyroid research at the National Institutes of Health, USA. He then completed a PhD on the role of NF-kB in lymphocyte function at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute in Melbourne, followed by clinical training leading to FRACP. He joined Austin Health in 2006.
