Dr Spiros Fourlanos MBBS, FRACP, PhD Endocrinologist & General Physician, Royal Melbourne Hospital Endocrinologist, Northern Hospital Spiros Fourlanos is a consultant endocrinologist at the Royal Melbourne and Northern Hospitals. He graduated in Medicine at the University of Melbourne in 1995, underwent physician training at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2002. Spiros completed a PhD entitled ‘Latent Autoimmune Diabetes in Adults (LADA): New Clinical, Immunogenetic and Metabolic Perspectives’ at the Walter & Eliza Hall Institute in 2006. Spiros’ clinical research interests now include investigating the relationship between autoimmune diabetes and obesity, developing interventions to preserve beta-cell function including a focus on vitamin D therapies as well as developing systems to foster enhanced clinical care in diabetes inpatient and ambulatory care settings.
