Professor and Chair of Endocrinology, School of Biomedical Sciences Principal Research Fellow, Australian NHMRC
After training as MBBS at Fudan University Shanghai Medical School in 1982, Professor Chen completed PhD in Neuroendocrinology at the University of Bordeaux, France in 1989. He then worked in Department of Analytical Pharmacology, Glaxo Inc. Research Laboratories in the U.S.A. till 1992 and then headed Endocrine Cell Biology at the Prince Henry’s Institute of Medical Research (Melbourne) to the end of 2007. He took on the current position from 2008 and is currently heading Chen laboratory of 17 staff/students at St Lucia Campus of The University of Queensland. His work focused on the metabolic and endocrine disorders (particularly in relation to GH, ghrelin and insulin) as well as ischemic/diabetic cardiomyopathy. He has published more than 145 papers in international scientific journals. He is currently NHMRC Principle Research Fellow. He served as Chair of many international conferences and is holding Hon Professorship of many international universities. He is also serving NHMRC and New Zealand HRC review panels, and editorial board of more than 10 international journals.
