The Annual Endocrine Society of Australia Seminar 2012 » ESA Clinicians Welcome
The Seminar Meeting will once again feature a detailed, quality program of current themes in Clinical Endocrinology. Our Plenary Speaker will be Professor Laurence Katznelson, Medical Director, Stanford Pituitary Centre, Stanford School of Medicine, California, USA, who will bring an update on Acromegaly. He will also be the expert commentator in a newly featured format, “Pituitary Masterclass”, a case-based presentation of interesting pituitary cases highlighting important diagnostic and management issues. In addition, there will be state-of-the art lectures given by Australian experts, with topics ranging from “Everything you wanted to know about I-131”, “HRT in difficult circumstances” to “Key issues in the daily management of type 1 diabetes: sex, sport and safe driving”.
We will also be honoured to have Professor David deKretser, AC, recent ex-Governor of Victoria, deliver the Endocrinology and Society Lecture. Professor deKretser has had a stellar career in the field of male reproductive endocrinology based at the Monash Institute of Medical Research, Melbourne.
Another exciting addition to the weekend will be the co-location of a separate basic science endocrinology stream which will allow interaction among clinicians and basic scientists at this meeting and facilitate attendance by clinicians at basic science sessions for those who may be interested.
Similar to 2011, there will be another Registrars’ Quiz based on the Seminar Weekend lectures, with valuable prizes to be won.
The meeting will be held at the newly refurbished Peppers Torquay Resort, a mere one hour’s drive from Melbourne. Recreational activities will include beachside activities, golf, sampling local produce, and hopefully a tour of a local winery.
This is the second year of a 3-year cycle that will cover the syllabus of Endocrinology, with particular emphasis on aspects relevant to the practising clinician. As in previous years, we expect strong attendance by Endocrinologists and Trainees and the POC looks forward to seeing you in Torquay.
