Emily Brooks is an endocrinologist and clinician-researcher at the Princess Alexandra Hospital (PAH) and senior lecturer and principal specialty supervisor (medicine) at the Princess Alexandra-Southside Clinical Unit, University of Queensland. Emily completed her physician training in Queensland before undertaking a fellowship in pituitary medicine at St Vincent’s Hospital and the Garvan Institute of Medical Research, Sydney. She completed her PhD at the University of Queensland. She has a sub-specialty interest in pituitary conditions and is the pituitary lead for the PAH Diabetes and Endocrinology Department. Her current research interests are varied but mainly involve pituitary conditions, including hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis conditions, posterior pituitary conditions and pituitary tumours, and also osteoporosis. She mentors research higher degree candidates and junior medical doctors completing research projects, as well as physician trainees completing specialty training. Emily has previously convened the ESA Clinical Weekend and been a member and secretary of the Early Career Committee. Outside of work, she is busy spending time with her husband, young children and groodle.

Dr Brendan Nolan is an endocrinologist at Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane and Research Fellow in the Trans Health Research Group (University of Melbourne). Brendan’s PhD evaluated the safety and efficacy of gender affirming hormone therapy for transgender and gender-diverse individuals. He continues postdoctoral research evaluating optimal gender affirming hormone therapy with funding from a National Health and Medical Research Council Investigator Grant. Brendan was the recipient of the Bryan Hudson Clinical Endocrinology Award at the 2022 Endocrine Society of Australia Annual Scientific Meeting and is a member of ESA Council.
